Hourly Billing Explained

Attorneys get paid in most circumstances just like the majority of Americans; by the hour. The hourly rate charged by lawyers can range drastically but averages in the $250/hour range. Some attorneys have different rates for different legal areas or cases and lower rates are charged for work done by skilled professional employees of the lawyer such as paralegals, law clerks, legal secretaries, etc.

Attorney Mark Nichols bills two different rates for his time. For out-of-court work the rate is $200/hour and for in-court work the rate is $250/hour. Mr. Nichols believes that the law is only effective if you can afford it! A split rate ensures that people with simpler, out of court issues do not have to pay the rate for more complex trial litigation. Payment plans are available with no credit check and are clearly outlined in the fee agreement. Also, Mark Nichols never charges for an initial consultation!
